Agree so much about the Golden Age argument you make. I'm a diehard movie fan, and it drives me nuts when people complain about movies and then only go to see $200M+ superhero flicks. My friends, we have MORE access to a greater variety of different, NEW films than at any time in human history. Lots of crap, sure, but also lots of very strong storytelling. (The same is true of other mediums, etc.)
There's a famous saying about science fiction - "When was the golden age of science fiction?" "Twelve." I think that's very true. But it also means that today - right now - is someone else's Golden Age. And that's an inspiring thought!
PS
Movie recco: watch Jeremy Saulnier's REBEL RIDGE on Netflix - outstanding! Tying back to comics, the star of that was just cast as the new John Stewart Green Lantern, and there's a good reason for that!
Love this post!
