Two Days Left for Unlimited Udo!
An off-schedule newsletter update to remind you to check it out while you can!
Campaign Update
We’re entering the last 48 hours of the campaign. It’s the last chance to make this campaign a spectacular success instead of just a great success.
Everything is ready to go once funding comes in (usually 2-3 weeks after the campaign ends). I can’t wait to get this comic into everyone’s hands. It’s been a long time coming.
If you haven’t checked out the campaign yet - I implore you to do so while you still have the chance!
Covers, Covers, Covers
I love how diverse the covers ended up being.
Valentin de las Casas’ cover continues the theme of the book. It’s gory without being obscene and really gives you a sense of style that you’ll find in the pages within.
Rafael Chrestani’s style is much more traditional. Detailed in a way that’s realistic without going too deep into that territory. I also love the way he draws women general.
Riccardo Faccini’s cover is eye-catching in a totally unique way while still nailing the tone of the book perfectly. If you’re familiar with his style, it’s identifiable while still being detailed.
Much like the book itself, I’m very pleased with how it all turned out. Every once and a while, I find myself just staring at this excellent art.
I’m truly lucky to have had the luck to work with these talented artists - and can’t wait to work on more with them in the future!
(More to come with Rafael, in particular, very soon. More on that in future updates.)
Some More Cool Projects
Nick Goode at Black Spot Comics got me with the tagline “Minority Report meets 28 Days Later”.
That’s an easy sell to me. Two of my favourites. It helps that Nick himself is a swell dude. The campaign has just entered the back half, so check it out and show your support.
How about some Greek Manga? The folks at Mangatellers GR have a project ending around the same time as ours that spoke to the 16-year-old version of me.
Here's a summary from them:
WiFi Wars is an original action-packed shonen manga that combines a fast-paced team hacking game with a dangerous motorbike tournament in the streets of Tokyo. If you like ecchi manga and hard-boiled waifus, then you are going to enjoy WiFi Wars: Afterburner.
Until Next Time
I’ll be getting back on schedule starting with a newsletter on June 1.
We’ll be reflecting on how the campaign went and some lessons learned. (At least for the pre-fulfillment stages. We’ll talk fulfillment at a later date too!)
On June 15, I’ll talk about the next project! I am extremely excited to share what we got cookin’ there.
See you Thursday, June 1!
