I Love Comics
That’s not a secret.
But what I love most about them is the novelty. Yeah, I read a lot of hero comics, especially from the Big Two, but there is so much variety and interesting stories out there to be found.
Especially in the indie space.
That’s where Kickstarter has been absolutely huge. It built a community of likeminded folks and its own economy around it. And who is the lifeblood of this economy?
The Superbacker
Superbackers are officially defined by Kickstarter as follows:
A Superbacker is a user who has supported more than 25 Kickstarter projects with pledges of at least $10 in the past year.
But that’s just a start. Generally speaking, Superbackers are the ones seeking out projects to support on Kickstarter. These are the people who want to see your campaigns succeed.
It’s what makes the platform so strong - and difficult to replicate elsewhere.
And like the title of this post says: I’m one of these Superbackers!
I became one by supporting a lot of indie creators - particularly digitally. (Shipping can be painful!)
I've Backed a Lot of Comics!
483 projects, to be exact. That's since 2016, but that doesn't make them any easier to manage!
For that, I have a system. A system in the form of a spreadsheet!
With this, I can see a milestone with the most recent campaign I’ve backed:
And remember, these are just indie books. I use CLZ to track my mainstream stuff, but I’ve been trying something new recently as well:
Is it worth the effort? Maybe.
Digital > Floppies?!
It feels wrong to say, but I do enjoy having a huge collection on my tablet or desktop.
Assuming you have the right setup!
Turn that monitor to portrait mode and you got a beautiful comic book reading screen. A decent tablet can do the trick too, but there’s nothing like seeing art blown-up and backlit.
Inspiration Leads To Perspiration
It’s thanks to all these projects and how open they have been with their process that I decided to take the jump into making comics myself.
I try to share as much as I can about my experiences, but I have a ton to learn myself as well. The community behind these comics is what makes it all possible.
Things like this upcoming project…
I can’t wait to show you more about Stay Cool.

Self-Taught by Others
My path to writing comics and more.
There's surely people who have me beat, but I do what I can for projects that look cool!
Thanks! That means a lot!
Happy to do it! Wanted to showcase something I really enjoyed. :)
Keep being awesome buddy!
